Well 2014 yielded some unexpected and wonderful opportunities. I achieved many goals along the way, getting our school to make the move to GAFE, increasing our BYOD program for 2015, starting my Post Grad and actually doing ok at it and so many more things!!!
My new role as E Learning Team Leader has been an exciting career opportunity. I have loved trying to find ways to help our staff develop their own personal skills using technology and have been even more delighted to hear their stories about their use of technology in their classrooms. Don't get me wrong there have been some very challenging moments, however they are outweighed by many awesome moments throughout the year.
My focus this year was to provide Proffessional Development by our teachers for our teachers. To choose etools that have been used by our leading teachers and so are more tried and tested. This has been awesome. The staff that put their hands up to help with this all year were amazing. Its fair to say that they provided a good range of PD that would have no doubt cost a lot if we had used an outside company.
Also in most departments my E Learning Facilitators have done a sterling job steering their departments in a direction that is achieveable, and exciting.
At the same time I have also been setting up a new course, Year 12 Outdoor Education, which has been no mean feat! But we did survive and with no major issues. In addition to this I have been trying to keep challenging myself to use technology within the smaller number of classes that I now teach. I think I did pretty good in this area too, some things worked, others didn't but the students and I still learnt a lot.
After a decent break this time (no I actually haven't been into school yet since we finished last year, which is extremely unusual for me), my attention is now turning to what is to be an even bigger year to come. We are going all year 9 BYOD which is a big move. What we want to utimately do is make technology just another part of our students learning program. This is a massive challenge for students, families and of course our teachers.
So, here are my goals for 2015:
1. Work on helping to develop a growth mindset in the wider staff.
2. Successfully implement GAFE with students and staff.
3. Develop a better work/life balance and try to spend quality time with my children.
4. Create a regular PE blog containing a collection of PE blog posts from around the world using paper.li.
5. Complete my Post Grad Certificate.
